Skiing in Canadian Rockies during winter:

My best Experience!

skiingfun

If you love skiing during the winter season, your next stop should be the Canadian Rockies. I personally have had an awesome experience in the Rockies and definitely it is an experience that I would love you to also enjoy. Skiing, whether it is night-skiing or during the day, is a fantastic recreational activity, and it’s a fabulous knowing your weight percentage to find out if you’re overweight, underweight, or normal (that’s how most people look at it). If you know how to do it in the right fashion, you will definitely have a great time in this great destination.

One thing that I came to realize during my time at the place is that planning for a winter vacation in that place is not an easy task as many people tend to think. It is therefore vital to work with experts who understand the area better. I had to search for tour and recreation companies on the internet before starting my journey. When I reached Canada, I got to understand that it was a great investment I had made.

I can categorically state that no winter vacation to the Canadian Rockies can ever be complete without spending some days doing downhill skiing and snowboarding. In fact, the Rocky Mountains and alps are home to some of the best ski resorts in all of North America.

Below is a peek at some of the destinations I visited as well as what I experienced the time I was there:

Lake Louise

mountainskiOne thing that I noted about Lake Louise is that it is spectacular scenery than many other parts of the Rockies. I was particularly amazed by the uniquely beautiful terrain which is not only vast but also pretty much varied.

I managed to cover a large part of the 4200 ski-able acres. Being one of the largest ski areas in North America, I definitely have fond memories of this place and I will definitely go back next time I visit Canada.

Sunshine Village

Located just 15 minutes from the Banff resort town, Sunshine village offers well over 3300 acres of terrain on a scale of three mountains. The average annual snowfall here is over 30 feet. If you love to snowboard or ski at any time of day, even during the night, this is a great place to go to. I got to interact with some of the people who come to the Sunshine Village from time to time and most of them seem to love the experience.

Mount Norquay

This is the place that I visited on my second week in Canada and again enjoyed what I came across. I get to realize that when you come here, mountain excitement gets much closer than you actually think. Being only 5 minutes from Banff, I noted that Norquay is the only ski hill in the Rockies that has got hourly passes. If you like night-skiing and snow tubing, you can be assured of an awesome time here.

Nakiska Mountain Resort

skisnowThis resort is what I seen by many people as the gateway to the Canadian Rockies. If you want to experience some of the best carving and cruising trails, this is the perfect place to come to. It is also great for ice climbing.

I also came to realize that Nakiska is considered to be a favorite for many local families. I won’t hide any aspect but I had a fantastic experience here. In fact, if there is a part of the Canadian Rockies that I would give anything to go back to, this is the place.
